HSBC has launched an advertisement on You Tube, a channel which is run by a gay friendly corporation, namely Google, but which still has difficulties removing homophobic and transphobic content from its platforms. The advertisement features the use of the newly adopted Quasar Version of the traditional Rainbow Flag, incorporating elements of black power and transgender pridge flags in a left handed chevron. The advert goes on to proclaim HSBC's commitment to the global LGBTQ population and its wish to see solidarity worldwide. HSBC is not the only financial institution to have made announcements this year that in spite of no real-time Prides, they stand firm with the community. Lloyds Bank, Santander and Barclays are just a few others who have made efforts to include the LGBTQ population in their commercials and promotions.
