Remembering Paris Gay Legendary Artist Copi

28/12/2022

French gay magazine Tetu has paid tribute to the life and times of gay cartoonist, playwright and artist Copi, who died thirty five years ago, in December 1987 of an AIDS related condition. Born in Argentina to a radical political family, Copi was based in Paris for much of his career and contributed to the groundbreaking French gay journal “Gai Pied”. The first issue of “Gai Pied” was sold at two thousand kiosks throughout France on 1 April 1979. It was published by Pink Triangle publications and printed by the radical presses of the Revolutionary Communist League. Copi’s work remains popular and influential in France.
