Sky News reports that the gun which was used to shoot lesbian journalist Lyra McKee during disturbances in Derry last year, has been identified. The weapon was found during routines searches in the Ballymagroarty area of Derry, says the BBC News Channel. The police said they hoped the discovery would help them to bring the person who fired the shots to justice. One man, Paul McIntyre, from Kinnego Park in Derry, has been charged with Ms McKee's murder, but denies the charge. Irish state broadcaster RTE adds that the gun in question had been used in several atrocities perpetrated by the dissident Republican faction that calls itself the Real IRA.
