Bristol Euro Bid Fails - But at Minimal Spend

26/08/2022

Local independent newspaper B247 reports that Bristol City Council spent just over seventy pounds on its bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. The city was not shortlisted for the event, which is considered a staple of many LGBTQIA people’s calendars each May. By keeping its bid simple, with a promotional video, the city spent just £70.42, according to a Freedom of Information request result. This is very small compared to the outlay of taxpayers money in some other cities. The seven cities which did make the shortlist are Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield, with a final decision due in autumn.
