Doctor Who Magazine reports that gay television scriptwriter and novelist Russell T Davies has been honoured by the Royal Television Society with its Outstanding Achievement Award. The Welsh screenwriter has been behind many LGBTQ friendly programmes including the acclaimed Channel Four series “Queer as Folk” and “It's A Sin”. Wikipedia says that Davies's work in reviving the long standing science fiction drama Doctor Who ultimately led to a television culture which once more celebrated family drama viewing, with ITV for example, launching its own sci fi drama, Primeval. Congratulations to Russell and we look forward to many more TV programmes dealing with LGBTQ issues from his illustrious pen in the future.
