LGBTQ fans of dance music, and we know there are many of them, gain an extra listening choice this weekend as Capital Dance, the new service from Global’s Capital Radio Group, goes live from 4pm on Friday afternoon, kicking off the weekend and competing with brands already in the sector such as KISS FM and BBC Radio One, for a young and upwardly mobile market. RCS Media website reports that Capital Dance’s playlist will include tracks from such LGBTQ loved artists as Disclosure, MK, Jessie Ware, Love Regenerator, Calvin Harris, Martin Solveig, Peggy Gou, Paul Woolford, The Blessed Madonna, Disciples, Duke Dumont, Jax Jones, Aluna and Armand Van Helden. On the presenting front, the station has recruited Mistajam who recently left the BBC’s urban music station 1-Xtra. Capital Dance will be audible on the DAB Digital network across the UK. Some people may need to retune their DAB sets to receive the new service. Meanwhile, not to be outdone, BBC Radio One say that they have recruited a top pop star to host a new series of podcasts which will be made available on the BBC Sounds App. Yungbld, whose support for environmental causes, LGBTQ freedom and multiculturalism has made him an icon of modern politics, revealed that he would be hosting the new podcast series when he appeared on Clara Amfoa’s Radio One show in the week. The podcast will focus on young people who are approaching change in their lives and document how they approach the opportunities offered in a modern technological world.
