Choices Grow for LGBTQ Media in the Midlands

25/07/2020

We are always pleased to encourage LGBTQ media at “ShoutOut”. The aim of our projects is to be better service the community, and we do not see ourselves in competition with other services, all of which are needed to provide a depth to the media that our community can rely on. So, we note that Gorgeous FM is now operating across Birmingham with programmes by and for the LGBTQ community. Under the slogan “Proud and Loud”, the station is not actually currently on FM, but is to he heard on the Birmingham DAB multiplex. This is a low power transmitter based in North East Birmingham which provides a number of smaller scale radio services to that part of the city, including a relay of the Manchester based LGBTQ station Gaydio, so there's a real choice if you're in that part of the city. A post on the Gorgeous FM facebook page suggests that the station will be expanding its broadcast area later this year by joining other digital DAB multiplexes in the West Midlands. With the regional gay magazine Midlands Zone, there is a wide choice of media available for the local LGBTQ communities.
