Human rights activist Peter Tatchell, who cut his political teeth in groups such as the Gay Liberation Front and OutRage!, was the guest of Scottish Nationalist veteran Alex Salmond on the controversial news network Russia Today on Saturday evening. Despite Moscow's official policies on homosexuality and the wider LGBTQ Community, the RT channel allowed a comprehensive and sympathetic interview with Mr Tatchell to go out, during which he reflected on his lifetime of campaigns from the early days of the Anti-Vietnam movement in Australia during the late sixties. Moreover, Mr Tatchell revealed that he had a direct familial link to the West Country. He said that his family hailed originally from Somerset dating to the Tudor period.
