Revenge is a dish best served cold, they say. And for Police Officer Rachel Swann, the last laugh is definitely the loudest. The Deputy Police Chief for Derbyshire, whose exemplary leadership during the flooding of the town of Whaley Bridge last year, was praised by many, is now the preferred candidate for the most Senior Police position in the county. Internet trolls attacked Ms Swann for her short stature and her short haircut, with homophobic and misogynist memes. Now a confirmation hearing is due at Derby Policy headquarters and a final decision is to be made. If selected, it will be hopefully one in the eye for the homophobes and sexists who attacked her. And given that a high profile Police officer has personal experience of the hatred online, LGBTQ people will be hoping for swift responses to online attacks and a firm approach to policing hate groups. Our thanks to the ever popular LGBTQ Newswire Pink News for alerting us to that item.
