Has Been Comic Makes Sexist Gaffe on TV

18/04/2022

Has been comedian Jim Davidson, who has a past history of racial and homophobic gags, is rarely on television these days.  At sixty eight you might have thought that he’d have retired.  Not so: centre right talk channel GB News, which broadcasts on DAB radio and on Freeview television, featured Davidson as a panel guest on the Dan Wooton Show.  Mr Davidson, who Wikipedia lists as making numerous jokes about disabled people and cancer sufferers during his career, referred to male football players sometimes lifting up their shirts after a goal and quipped that men wanted to see this.  His remarks prompted mirth amongst other male panellists, including the host of the show, Dan Wooton, who is a gay man.  However, women contributors to the programme noted that his sexist remarks undermined a serious discussion about men and women in sport.
