Green Party CoChair Resigns Over Toxic Phobia

26/07/2021

Co-chair of the Green Party, Sian Berry is to step down despite the party's strong showing in the recent local elections. Ms Berry issued a statement midweek explaining that she felt she had not been able to offer enough support and progress for the party's many transgender members and supporters. The London Assembly, on which she sits, has a problem with toxic transphobia and seventies style feminist extremism, reports top LGBTQIA newswire Pink News. Ms Berry said “There’s been an enormous amount of toxic rhetoric that I do not like”. Although the Green Party boasts a strong and long standing LGBTQIA rights platform, the new spokesperson on policing and domestic safey, Shahar Ali, has anti-trans tweets to their name.
