The UK’s Office for National Statistics, which has already issued several “teaser” results from the 2021 Census Data, says that it will issue the first summary of sexual orientation and gender identity data from the Census during the first week of January. Census 2021 was the first census of England and Wales to record information on sexual orientation and gender identity. However, critics of the Census and many LGBTQIA activists have argued that the results may be skewed, with many people refusing to fill in the forms honestly because, for example, they felt the questioning was intrusive, or because they had mischievious intent.
