Pink News Serialises Last Work of Crisp

06/12/2017

Gay newswire Pink News is serialising extracts from the final chapters of Quentin Crisp's autopbiography. Just published and available now from all good booksellers including Bristol's Foyles, Waterstones and Glastonbury's many independent stores, the book sees Crisp reflect on his life and death and was penned in the last two years of life before his death in 1999. Quentin Crisp was a trailblazer and iconoclast, who lived an openly gay life during a period of intense state persecution. Nevertheless, he also infuriated the early gay rights movement, with his refusal to endorse liberation and was accused by his many detractors of wallowing in self pity. On his death at the end of the last millenium, the Independent newspaper ran with the headline, “The Queen Is Dead”.
