Legendary Actor Has Terminal Illness

22/09/2021

Sir Anthony Sher, the classical actor and star of numerous stage and television productions, has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. The community newspaper The Jewish Chronicle reports that Mr Sher's husband, Gregory Doran, announced that he would be taking leave of his own role at the Royal Shakespeare Company to care for Mr Sher. Mr Sher was knighted in the year 2000 for his services to acting and the arts. Messages of love and support flooded in from the world of theatre, as well as from the Jewish and gay communities. The Royal Shakespeare Company said it would be making “no further comment regarding this personal matter, and we ask that Gregory and Antony’s privacy is respected at this difficult time.”
