Midlands Zone, the LGBT Community newspaper for the West Minlands, reports that
Birmingham Pride is delighted to announce HSBC UK as its lead sponsor for 2018. The event is expected to attract more than 75,000 people and is the second year running that HSBC UK is the festival's lead sponsor.
Birmingham Pride is the UK’s largest two-day LGBT festival and has taken place for more than 20 years, and in the last five years it has raised more than £300,000 for local community groups.
The bank, which is developing its new UK headquarters in Centenary Square, Birmingham, will be the headline sponsor for the main stage which sits at the heart of the community-focused festival. It will also be leading out the parade, with 200 employees and their friends and families in attendance.
Lawrence Barton, Festival Director from Birmingham Pride, said: "We are really looking forward to working with the HSBC UK team again for this year’s Birmingham Pride on its 21st birthday. We’d like to thank HSBC UK for their continued support, which helps great social projects and causes across the city”.
Birmingham Pride is set in the heart of the city's gay village and attracts over 50,000 people each year. This year's two-day celebration, featuring the theme 'Be You', takes place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May and tickets are available from birminghampride.com
If you’re visiting the city of Birmingham, then you’re in good company, as many LGBT folks from the West travel up to Birmingham Pride. The City boats a great deal for the queer visitor, including a lively and thriving scene, a branch of gay shop CloneZone, as well as a vegan café called the Warehouse, a branch of Metropolitan Community Church and myriad social groups.
