If you're in Brighton or along the South Coast, there's just enough time to pick up your August edition of the community magazine GSCene. The September edition will be out over the Bank Holiday weekend. In the August issue, important news about the Ledward Memorial Centre, which will be an LGBTQ Community and Cultural Centre. It looks as if premises that are suitable for the project have been found in Jubilee Street, and according to Chris Gull of the Brighton Rainbow Fund, the vision is to have a community cafe, bookshop, exhibition foyer, theatre, and multimedia centre. Also in the magazine is news for new funding for Black and Minority Ethnic Community Groups, just approved by the City Council. There's exploring grief with through Creative Writing, which is an initiative of the Brighton Gay Switchboard, rugby guidelines for transgender participants, which are contested by the International Gay Rugby Group and a new network which is keeping up the pressure on government to finally outlaw the dangerous practice of religious transformation anti-gay therapies. Don't forget that community radio services are prominent in Brighton too. You have Radio Reverb on 97.2 FM, a relay for Gaydio on 98.7 FM and online there's Brighton and Hove Community Radio. All of these services have considerable output for the local gay, bi, trans and non binary communities.
