It was once written back in the days when gay people were called “homophiles” that the “homophile community” would debate any idea, no matter how subversive or radical, and discuss merits and demerits: the quality of discussion in gay venues being far superior to that in general pubs and cafes. Well, today, many LGBTQIA people still have radical or different ideas about society, politics and the environment. And if you are looking for some alternative gift ideas, then why not head on down to Bristol's Radical Bookfayre, the second this year, taking place at the Exchange, in the heart of the gay village in the city. The organisers promise new and second hand titles from zines, to books, and a wide variety of progressive campaign groups will be represented. A vegan cafe will be available for part of the day. The entire event takes place on Saturday 19th December between 11.30am and 3.30pm. And once you've finished shopping, perhaps you could put your feet up at one of the LGBTQIA venues and make a day of it.
