Rallying to Support Independent Bookstore

Protests have continued all week outside the small cafe and bookstore, The Hidden Corner based in St Paul's. The shop stocked titles by black writers, LGBT+ writers and hosted events relevant to its multicultural community. The proprietors of the project say that the Landlord is deliberately trying to get rid of them to effect gentrification of this mutli-ethnic area. They have been supported by solidarity from across the gay, transgender, black and Asian communities in the area, with supporters including the performance artist Travis Alabanza and other writers of colour.
