"Not Guilty" Plea in Slave Trader Topple Case

01/02/2021

Local Television Station Bristol TV reports that the Colston Four, being four people accused of illegally toppling the statue of city elder and slave trader Edward Colston during a Black Lives Matter Protest in June, have pleaded not guilty. The independent local newspaper B247 added that “Rhian Graham, 29, Milo Ponsford, 25, Jake Williams, 36 and Sage Willoughby, 21, each pleaded not guilty to the charge of damage to property at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning”. The case was adjourned for a fortnight and the not guilty plea means that the case will now be heard at the Crown Court. Each of the defendants has been granted unconditional bail.
