The best selling black British newspaper, The Voice, has added its considerable voice to the praise for the Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, who appeared to give a blessing and address at the recent wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Reverend Curry is the first African American leader of the Episcopal Church, which is the American branch of Anglicanism, and which is very gay friendly. Writing in the voice, correspondence Leah Sinclair also noted “Reverend Curry quoted Martin Luther King Junior and touched on themes of universal love and slavery with a cadence that is steeped in African American religious oratorical tradition that is familiar to many black people”. Reverend Curry has also written a book about inclusive and accepting Christianity, called Crazy Christians: A call to follow Jesus”.
