Another Homophobe Indicted for Historic Abuse

02/05/2018

It has long been the contention of gay and lesbian activists that people who publically say that homosexuality is wrong are dangerously repressed individuals and that they frequently constitute a real danger to children and young people.  Now, an outspoken anti-gay cleric is to face trial for historic sexual abuse offences. Cardinal George Pell, a former Archbishop of Sydney, who for several decades has tried to stop any legislative reform in favour of gay people, has been charged in Melbourne on several accounts of historical sexual abuse. His manipulative activities also included trying to decouple the mutual solidarity between LGBT and African-American civil rights movements, by implying that gay people already had special privileges. The trial is expected to last several months. BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat added that demonstrators against sexual abusers in the Church greeted Pell at court on the day of his indictment.
