Snap Election Sees LGBT MPs contest seats

Parliament

21/04/2017

Mainstream media has been dominated by the announcement of a snap ,mid term General Election, due to take place on Thursday June 8th. According to Pride Life magazine, there are currently thirty seven out gay or bi MPs across the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and SNP benches in the House of Commons. It will be interesting to see if that number increases after the election. Electoral rules mean that the output of community radio stations is tightly restricted during the run up to the elections, but no such rules apply to the gay press or websites. For lively debate on how LGBT people should or should not vote at this poll, visit newswires such as Pink News, Gay Star News and Pink UK, or pick up gay magazines in your newsagents.
