Sex Case Exposes Contradictions in US States

29/07/2017

In a case that has shown up the weird nature of sexual offences laws in the United States Bible Belt, a young woman has been prosecuted with statutory rape, of a minor after having a consenting relationship with a fourteen year old boy she met at a surf shop. The College Student, Taylor Moseley, is being held with an extremely high bail set at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Even though the relationship took place with the boy's full consent, she faces prison for rape, idecent liberties and other sex offences. The Independent website points out that North Carolina, in which the two young people live, pregnant girls are often forced into marriage at the age fourteen in order for their families to be spared the stigma of having an illegitimate birth. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/female-student-woman-ch...
