Threats from Nationalists in Ukraine to Book

Radio Free Europe, the famous dissident radio station for Eastern Europe, says that ultranationalists and the Orthodox church in the Ukraine have targeted a new children's book by respected author Larysa Denysenko. “Maya and Her Mums” tells the story of different households, one of which is headed by two women. Radio Free Europe notes that in recent years, the pro-Western government of the Ukraine has made strides to support LGBT rights but that homophobic attitudes remain commonplace in the country.
