Kosovan LGBT March Takes Place without Probs

30/10/2017

Eastern European pro-democracy broadcaster RADIO FREE EUROPE reports that the first ever LGBT rights march in the Kosovan capital, Pristina, took place on October 10th. This was despite threats from neo-nazis and far right nationalist organisations. President Hashim Thaci sent his good wishes to the marchers and the US ambassador joined them for part of the brief parade. The Balkan state is reported to be amongst Europe's most conservative and homophobic, so the efforts of the government to empower LGBT people is a refreshing change.
