For people living down south, along the English Channel coast in fact, we have a little entertainment tidbit for you! BBC Radio Solent, the Beeb's regional service from Southampton and Portsmouth and all the way along the Jurassic Coast, has launched a new showtunes programme. For the many gay and trans people interested in musical theatre and the musical film genres, the programme goes out on a Sunday evening from five o'clock. The new programme is part of an expansion in BBC local stations' regional output recommended by the governing body the BBC Trust recently. BBC Radio Solent can be heard on FM, DAB, AM, Freeview and cable television packages across Dorset and Hampshire. Not to be outdone, our own collegue Ivan Jackson, presents an equally camp foray into musicals with “Showtime”, which goes out on BCFM in Bristol and around the globe on Pirate Nation Radio.
