Farewell to Hollyoaks' Gay Character

For fans of Channel Four's youth orientated soap opera Hollyoaks, it was an emotional end last night for gay character John Paul, who exited the show by moving abroad. On the official Hollyoaks You Tube page, actor James Sutton and fellow gay character actor Keiron Richardson reflect on the impact that John Paul's presence in the soap has had on young LGBT people's development, and which of his on screen romances he rated the highest. Despite its outlandish scripts, Hollyoaks has pioneered visibility for minorities on prime time TV and has helped many people see themselves represented on the box.
