Congratulations are in order to DIVA magazine, the lesbian and bisexual women's journal, which is this month marking its two hundred and fiftieth issue. DIVA comes in a long tradition of feminist and women's magazine, a tradition which includes Curve, Ms and Spare Rib. However, unlike some of these other titles, the magazine has survived for a longer period of time and maintains a print edition in the face of competition from the internet. DIVA, which launched in March 1994 at a time of intense political activity in the gay movement, has also not been afraid to challenge its readers over issues such as transwomen, and racism in the community. The celebratory issue is available now from newsagents and looks back at a revolution that has happened in lesbian life since ninety-four.
